Meet sweet Callum. This was my 3rd session with the Creswell family, and they now have 3 kids under 3! Every once in a while I'll have a newborn session where the baby isn't as sleepy as the typical newborn, and this was a beautiful example of that. Even though he was awake, Callum was so calm and peaceful, and I love that we were able to capture his eyes and the way he looks at his Mom.
The whole reason I picked up my camera in the first place was to document my family and all the crazy, exhausting, and sweet moments of childhood. Here are some of my favorite personal photos from 2018. Whether you use your iPhone, a DSLR, or just prefer to hire a photographer , capture these moments! I promise you won't regret it.
Lots of big milestones and change coming for the Kitchens family! This session was a celebration of sweet Polli Kate's second birthday and the home stretch of pregnancy for her beautiful mom! Can't wait to meet another beautiful Kitchens baby soon!
My crazy girl is 3! Every year I like to take the time to get special, individual photos of my kids on their birthday. It's not only great for capturing milestones, but it makes them feel special and important, because its a little photo shoot just for them without siblings or parents. I try to encourage them to just interact with me and let them lead, that way I capture their true characteristics and mannerisms and have a little piece of their personality preserved in photos.
See those two sweet girls? They are turning one! To celebrate and commemorate their first birthday, the Gardner family braved the heat to get family portraits. I love the idea of having portraits done on your children's birthdays, what a great way to have lasting pieces of every stage of childhood!
Brecken steals my heart every time I see him. I have photographed many babies from newborn to 1, but Brecken is my first from womb to 1! After weeks of watching out for crazy weather, his parents made the drive up here from my hometown of Dublin and we captured a beautiful maternity session...just in time too because Brecken decided to arrive a couple of weeks early! Since then I've been able to document his newborn, mid year, and now 1st year milestone!
I was so honored to take Janelle's portraits for her sweet sixteen! This gorgeous dress is what she will be wearing for her party. Would believe it was thundering this whole session? We had to carefully keep an eye on those rain clouds to protect the dress! This is proof that you can still get beautiful images even on cloudy days if your photographer knows what they are doing!
We went on vacation to Saint Simons Island at the end of May. Of course, when you are the children of a photographer, you are required to dress up and take photos :)
We planned this session to be outdoors...but of course the weather decided to be crazy and it rained everyday for about 3 weeks. Luckily we had the White Room Studio as a backup plan, and the Cook family rocked it!
After a crazy few weeks filled with lots of traveling and sessions, I'm finally taking a breath and catching up on blogging some of the amazing sessions I've gotten to do! Lochlan was the very first cutie to come to the White Room Studio for a Milestone Mini. These are 15 minute sessions held at my in-home studio for an individual child. Lochlan visited me to celebrate the milestone of his 1st birthday and he was just the sweetest! Here are a few of the shots we got in our short little 15 minute session (and this is only about half of them!)
Meet sweet little Oliver. This session was special to me for several reasons. First of all, I love this family! Second, it was my first newborn session in the White Room Studio. And third, this was my last session before maternity leave, and it just made me even more excited to meet my own newborn soon! I love simplicity in photos, and the white room allowed all the focus to be on this perfect baby and the bond between his family. I'm looking forward to doing many more of these studio newborn sessions in the future!
Back in October I had the honor of taking family maternity portraits for this beautiful family. Due to the holidays and about a billion snow days that shut down little old Georgia, our newborn session got pushed back to a 2 month old session. But the great part about that is getting to see Emily's eyes and expressions! We did half of our session in my new studio and half in the Mostacero home. Valeria always does an incredible job at choosing beautiful color palettes for her family's outfits. I'm not sure which is better, the incredible wall decor in Emily's nursery, or Emily's hair!
February Studio Minis are coming February 10th! As a way to celebrate the completion of my new, in-home studio, and to provide all my clients with the opportunity for updated portraits before I go on maternity leave, I'll be offering these discounted Mini Sessions. Because these sessions are limited and discounted, they usually sell out quickly!
Here are the details!

Welcome to my first session of 2018! The Cook family was such a blessing to work with and the perfect way to kick of the new year. I'm also in love with this new location. Raisin's Pony Ranch has a beautiful property with fields, fences, a barn, and a gorgeous vintage teal truck. Narrowing it down to just a few images to share from their session was nearly impossible, so even with all these gorgeous family portraits you see here, there are so many more in their gallery that are just as sweet. Want to know the secret to getting so many great shots? It's just relaxing and interacting with your family! We always do posed shots where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera, but my favorites are always the ones where parents are tickling their kids, or leaning over to give them a kiss. Things that you do everyday to show your love and affection for your family translate into the best photos! It's obvious how much love this family has for one another just because they interacted with each other as normal. Enjoy a little sampling from the Cook family session!
I'm so excited to announce The White Room Studio!!! This in home studio has been a plan of mine for a while now. First let me say, that I am still primarily an on location, natural light, outdoor photographer. Also, I feel I need to give the disclaimer that I don't believe in lots of props. It's a plain white room for a reason! The focus is on the subjects and makes for timeless images.
To celebrate this new space, and to give all my clients the opportunity for updated portraits before my maternity leave, I'm going to be offering Minis in February! The details will be announced later this week. Clients and MHP Insiders (those who have signed up for my newsletter) will be notified of Mini Details first and get the first chance to sign up. After that I'll announce and open booking for the public. So if you haven't already signed up for my email list, be sure to do that!
This new studio space will open the door for some fun new opportunities for clients! After my maternity leave, I plan on rolling out these new options:
1. A first year/baby club plan!- Babies change SO much that first year. This means I can capture your newborn photos, and then you can come into the studio for mini sessions to get milestone photos to update throughout that pivotal 1st year.
2. A miniture newborn session- For those who want a shortened newborn session in the studio instead of the full newborn session in their home. These sessions will be shortened and discounted, but will still be lifestyle. (That's a fancy way of saying I don't do props and super posed photos.) These sessions will be a great alternative to the in home session and will just focus on getting a full family shot, a sibling shot, a parent/newborn shot, and of course one of the newborn individually.
3. Get ready for this one.... SANTA!!!- Ok, so I still have to talk to the big guy himself to make sure I can fit in his ever so busy schedule. But this will be an awesome way to get photos with Santa without having to brave the mall!!! (Does even thinking about that give anyone else a little anxiety attack like it does me?)
As always, thank you all for your support and for allowing me to photograph little parts of your life! And a huge thank you to my husband, who was the sole contractor, laborer, encourager, wrangler of children, and all around helper for this job :)
