Meet Aubrey! This sweet girl was like a real life baby doll. One of my favorite parts of doing newborn sessions in homes is seeing the nursery. This was one of my favorites of all time! It had beautiful tones of blush, coral, white, and beige with little accents of greenery and gold. I always recommend families wear neutral and pale colors for newborn sessions to keep the images soft and keep the focus on baby. This session is a perfect example of how beautiful soft tones are in newborn photos! Not to mention Aubrey has a ridiculously cute big brother (as well as two cute dog family members too!) Check out all the nursery details for some decor envy... I mean inspiration.
Meet sweet Callum. This was my 3rd session with the Creswell family, and they now have 3 kids under 3! Every once in a while I'll have a newborn session where the baby isn't as sleepy as the typical newborn, and this was a beautiful example of that. Even though he was awake, Callum was so calm and peaceful, and I love that we were able to capture his eyes and the way he looks at his Mom.
Meet sweet little Oliver. This session was special to me for several reasons. First of all, I love this family! Second, it was my first newborn session in the White Room Studio. And third, this was my last session before maternity leave, and it just made me even more excited to meet my own newborn soon! I love simplicity in photos, and the white room allowed all the focus to be on this perfect baby and the bond between his family. I'm looking forward to doing many more of these studio newborn sessions in the future!
Back in October I had the honor of taking family maternity portraits for this beautiful family. Due to the holidays and about a billion snow days that shut down little old Georgia, our newborn session got pushed back to a 2 month old session. But the great part about that is getting to see Emily's eyes and expressions! We did half of our session in my new studio and half in the Mostacero home. Valeria always does an incredible job at choosing beautiful color palettes for her family's outfits. I'm not sure which is better, the incredible wall decor in Emily's nursery, or Emily's hair!
Meet brand new little Lainey! I have so much love for this family. Lainey's two older siblings are the same ages as my boy and girl and they all play together so well. Not to mention her mom is one of those wonderful friends who is fun, passes no judgment on your parenting, and helps you keep your sanity while dealing with all the little people! Lainey is a sweet as can be and was even awake for a few of her photos so we got to see those beautiful eyes!
One of my favorite parts of photographing newborns is that I get a great excuse to be super intrusive and snuggle my friends' babies when they are brand new! After a hectic weekend of traveling and photographing several families with little runners (gotta love toddlers!), Cate's session was just so relaxing and peaceful. She was the sweetest little client and even the family dog took direction and instructions like a champ! Just wait until you see her photos with her sweet fur-sister!
Just look at that little charming smirk! Brecken is the first boy newborn I've had after a long string of girls, and he is just as handsome as he could be. He was a sweetheart his whole session, and to top it off he has an incredible nursery. Just wait until you see all the little details!
I love in home newborn sessions. It's such an honor to be invited into my clients' home and to capture sweet personal moments with the newest member of their family. I love that the Rokicki family allows their sweet girls to be themselves giving me the opportunity to get real life shots of their family playing and interacting with each other. These are the kind of photos these girls will cherish when they are adults looking back on their childhood. Enjoy a few images from sweet little Anna's newborn session!
One of the things I've learned since having children is the importance of community. The job of being a stay at home (or work at home) mom can be lonely. You may be surrounded by little people, but often the necessity of naps, meals, and play time mean being at home a lot. And suddenly, you realize just how important an occasional face-to-face adult conversation can be to your sanity! When I was nearing the end of my pregnancy with Emmy Kate, I met a sweet mom of two who lived down the street from me. Our boys became great friends and in those crazy months of trying to survive life with a newborn and a 3 year old, my neighbor Lauren stepped in and provided those desperately needed adult conversations for me! I didn't have that kind of community when my oldest was a newborn, and although it was a sweet time, it was also so lonely. I'm so thankful to have had Lauren and her family just down the street providing friendship and encouragement with my second newborn. Fast forward a couple of years later, and this family has added another sweet April baby to their family! And although we don't live down the street anymore, I'm thankful we can easily pick up where we left off, and especially thankful for the honor of capturing their first moments as a family of 5!
I am the lucky aunt to 6 nephews and now 6 nieces! Elizabeth is the newest addition to the family of my sister, Marcey. Isn't she beautiful? She has three older brothers who already adore their baby sister. I think anyone with children can appreciate the miracle of getting all three of these older brothers to sit still long enough for a family photo with their newest sibling! Marcey had fun choosing cute accessories for this sweet baby girl, after all, all the little southern ladies are required to have some sort of bow in their hair for every occasion!
