Welcome to my first session of 2018! The Cook family was such a blessing to work with and the perfect way to kick of the new year. I'm also in love with this new location. Raisin's Pony Ranch has a beautiful property with fields, fences, a barn, and a gorgeous vintage teal truck. Narrowing it down to just a few images to share from their session was nearly impossible, so even with all these gorgeous family portraits you see here, there are so many more in their gallery that are just as sweet. Want to know the secret to getting so many great shots? It's just relaxing and interacting with your family! We always do posed shots where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera, but my favorites are always the ones where parents are tickling their kids, or leaning over to give them a kiss. Things that you do everyday to show your love and affection for your family translate into the best photos! It's obvious how much love this family has for one another just because they interacted with each other as normal. Enjoy a little sampling from the Cook family session!
I'm so excited to announce The White Room Studio!!! This in home studio has been a plan of mine for a while now. First let me say, that I am still primarily an on location, natural light, outdoor photographer. Also, I feel I need to give the disclaimer that I don't believe in lots of props. It's a plain white room for a reason! The focus is on the subjects and makes for timeless images.
To celebrate this new space, and to give all my clients the opportunity for updated portraits before my maternity leave, I'm going to be offering Minis in February! The details will be announced later this week. Clients and MHP Insiders (those who have signed up for my newsletter) will be notified of Mini Details first and get the first chance to sign up. After that I'll announce and open booking for the public. So if you haven't already signed up for my email list, be sure to do that!
This new studio space will open the door for some fun new opportunities for clients! After my maternity leave, I plan on rolling out these new options:
1. A first year/baby club plan!- Babies change SO much that first year. This means I can capture your newborn photos, and then you can come into the studio for mini sessions to get milestone photos to update throughout that pivotal 1st year.
2. A miniture newborn session- For those who want a shortened newborn session in the studio instead of the full newborn session in their home. These sessions will be shortened and discounted, but will still be lifestyle. (That's a fancy way of saying I don't do props and super posed photos.) These sessions will be a great alternative to the in home session and will just focus on getting a full family shot, a sibling shot, a parent/newborn shot, and of course one of the newborn individually.
3. Get ready for this one.... SANTA!!!- Ok, so I still have to talk to the big guy himself to make sure I can fit in his ever so busy schedule. But this will be an awesome way to get photos with Santa without having to brave the mall!!! (Does even thinking about that give anyone else a little anxiety attack like it does me?)
As always, thank you all for your support and for allowing me to photograph little parts of your life! And a huge thank you to my husband, who was the sole contractor, laborer, encourager, wrangler of children, and all around helper for this job :)
Meet the Williams family! Little Thomas was full of smiles and was the best little model. Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!
Oh how I love the Campbell family! I wish I could take credit for some of the creative poses and shots during their sessions, but I can't! That is 100 percent the wonderful personalities of this group. They make sessions unique and fun, and I'm so thankful I get to be their photographer. Not to mention, Andrexy is amazing to me. She has 5 beautiful children with one more on the way, and she still looks fantastic and has the kindest and most peaceful presence. It was so hard to choose just a few to share from this session!
Meet the Mostaceros! My favorite part about this family is how close they all are. I hope that as my children start to transition into the teen years, we can have the same kind of relationships as this sweet family. Enjoy a peek into their session at Berry Patch Farms!
I love that the Burnett family went a little fancy for their Christmas photos! This kiddos were just adorable and did the best job! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their session.
Have you ever seen a more beautiful mama? Valeria was absolutely stunning! All of this session was done at the same park, and I love the variety of backdrops we achieved by moving from one section of the park to another. This little girl will be so loved, and from seeing how cute her big brother is, she's bound to be beautiful! I had so many favorites from this session, it was nearly impossible to narrow it down to just a few to share! So enjoy my oversharing of this gorgeous family!
Oh how I love the Taylor family! This family has been with me from the very beginning of my journey as a photographer, and they make our sessions so easy and relaxed. I look forward to their session every year! This location is a private property on the river and it is just gorgeous. There are river views, gorgeous landscaping, and it even has a rustic barn backdrop that is fully equipped with donkeys who will happily photobomb any portraits taken near their fence. The best part is that I am the only photographer with access to this location, which means no crowds or people to interfere with your session! This location is available upon request, I just have to confirm dates with the owners. Enjoy some of my favs from the Taylor session!
Meet the Houston family! This session involved a first for me...Halloween costumes! To help one of their boys overcome his fears of the scary parts of Halloween, this family created a fun tradition of having coordinating family costumes to make Halloween a positive and fun family activity. We did half the session as a traditional family session, and then the family made a quick change into their costumes to get a few iconic shots of their characters. Just wait until you see their costume shots!
Meet the Herron family! I can't believe just how much these kiddos have grown since I last saw them for my Spring Minis. Little Easton was ready to have his picture made from the moment he saw me. He was constantly running up to me with a big grin on his face and a sweet little, "cheeeeeeese!" Enjoy some of my favorites from this beautiful family's session.
Meet brand new little Lainey! I have so much love for this family. Lainey's two older siblings are the same ages as my boy and girl and they all play together so well. Not to mention her mom is one of those wonderful friends who is fun, passes no judgment on your parenting, and helps you keep your sanity while dealing with all the little people! Lainey is a sweet as can be and was even awake for a few of her photos so we got to see those beautiful eyes!
One of my favorite parts of photographing newborns is that I get a great excuse to be super intrusive and snuggle my friends' babies when they are brand new! After a hectic weekend of traveling and photographing several families with little runners (gotta love toddlers!), Cate's session was just so relaxing and peaceful. She was the sweetest little client and even the family dog took direction and instructions like a champ! Just wait until you see her photos with her sweet fur-sister!
I had the honor of photographing Meredith and Clarks wedding back in August. Engagement sessions are included in my wedding package, but they had a short engagement and logistically it was going to be tough for them. Instead, they opted to have additional bride and groom portraits taken after the wedding. And it was SO worth it! We were able to freely choose our location, timing, and we were 100% stress free! Our only deadline was the setting sun. I had so much fun photographing these too again, and they are just stunning in these photos!
Soooo...if the rest of you are anything like me, pregnancy is not your most glorious of days. It's a blessing but it is HARD, and to say that I don't feel glamorous while pregnant is a massive understatement. You may be confused and wondering why a photographer who does maternity sessions is telling you all this...let me explain. Yes it can be a hard season, but it is God working and creating life and you get to take part in it! And that my friends is beautiful. So why have maternity pictures taken? Well you may not feel elegant and glorious in the everyday, but this is your chance to pick out a dress you love, take the time to have your hair and makeup done, and feel beautiful! Pregnancy is a short season, but it is such a pivotal time and it changes everything. What a special moment in time to have captured to remember forever. And I must say, my beautiful friend Amanda makes it look effortless! I'm so glad she decided to capture this season of life as they are about to welcome another boy to their family.
Meet the gorgeous Lawson family! When Rachel and I were in high school, we went on a beach trip with a few other friends. If I remember correctly, I was one of the friends that both convinced and physically executed highlighting her hair in our hotel room. Lets just say the fact that she's still my friend and willing to let me come near her is a miracle! And clearly her current hair stylist has much better skills than high school Molly! We had the best light for this session as the sun was making its way down to the horizon. Nothing better that cute kids in the beautiful sunset light! Enjoy a preview of the Lawson family!
